The state of New York is in constant panic as The Hand has infiltrated Hell’s Kitchen. Only newly appointed Mayor Matthew Murdock and Daredevil have the means to counteract this supernatural force of undead ninjas.
Charles Soule crafts a powerful narrative full of twists and turns as the stakes continue to rise. Local authorities are incapable of battling the skilled assassins as bodies pile in the streets.
Matthew Murdock breaks away from his responsibilities as Mayor and dawns the devil mantle. When Blindspot approaches Daredevil the two track down a trail of attacks on the police, which leads to a hidden endgame of The Hand.
The comic book issue offers action, mystery, and suspense. Matthew Murdock draws in the readers attention for his attitude to help the city in admirable when facing impossible circumstances. The pacing is rather quick but important reaching each plot point pure succession without any drag from act one to the climax.
The artwork displays multiple elements in the genre while including other means of dramatic flair. Mike Henderson leaves his mark inside this book with tactical pencil streaks and a brush of both realism and cartoonish qualities.
The environment is basic and does not offer complex details or foundations. The panels are heavily focused on the characters or immediate action. Strong depictions of color make their way within the comic creating gratifying tone.
The most notable pigments would be red, black, blue, and purple. The night sky tends to fade from purple to blue, as the light source is made clear as light reflects off characters and objects.
A major cliffhanger is made apparent in the end with The Hand capturing the entire New York police department. With New York’s finest captured and missing who will defend the streets of the city? Will Daredevil and Blindspot be enough to rescue the fine officers of the city or perish under the legions of ninjas? Find out in further issues of The Man Without Fear!
